Heart, Circulation and Vessels

Cardiovascular diseases are statistically –including cancer -. by far the most common cause of death. The quality of life for the affected is greatly reduced. Patients with heart disease are stricken with daily worries and fear of not being able to perform adequately on a daily basis.
Arteriosclerosis, arterial diseases and other circulatory impairments increase with age. High blood pressure (hypertension) is the most common chronic disease and is one of the most important risk factors for cardio-vascular disease.

Most common diseases:

  • Arteriosclerosis
  • Blood clots
  • Valvular heart defect
  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Heat stroke
  • Sun stroke
  • Varicose veins
  • Thrombosis, etc.

Risk factors

Wide-scale studies have been able to uncover the most common risk factors for arteriosclerosis and cardiovascular disease:
  • High cholesterol level
  • Smoking
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes and overweight
  • Psychosocial stress, lack of exercise, bad diet, etc.

Not every smoker or overweight person must necessarily become affected. There is also the young, athletic patient who has a healthy diet, never smoked and yet is affected by cardiovascular diseases or suffers a heart attack, requires a heart transplant or even deceases. This shows quite clearly that a genetic disposition must be taken into account and can sometimes be seen in families, where, tragically, one member after the other becomes afflicted. Early detection of cardiovascular diseases and the introduction of treatment can greatly reduce the risk of long-term damage and distinctly increase life expectancy.
Due to the manifold causes many examinations are available and can be taken advantage of in our center in co-operation with specialists.
